Fri 4/1-Fri 6/10
Fri 4/1 @ 6-8PM
Artist/designer Josh MacPhee is known for using his creative practice on behalf of leftwing movements and ideas, such as Occupy Wall Street and prison reform. He’s done a book on political record labels and designed book jackets. And he’s founded organizations in Brooklyn that collect material produced by social/political movements.
Now he’s partnered with the Cleveland Institute of Art’s printmaking department to present a show called We Want Everything at CIA’s Reinberger Gallery. It’s not your typical show with pieces on display by individual arts. Instead it’s based on the sharing of ideas and people creating work together. The show “explores printmaking as a communal cultural practice that values copying and repurposing in place of individual authorship.” The gallery will be a maker space, with visitors invited to actively engage with the materials on display, adding their own thoughts and ideas.
The show opens with a reception on Friday April 1 @ 6-8pm and remains on view through Friday June 10.
