Fri 3/18 @ 7PM
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is celebrating its 100th anniversary all year long with its Centennial Speaker Series.
Its next speaker, Oklahoma-based writer/musician/performer Joy Harjo, is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and serving her second term as the 23rd Poet Laureate of the U.S., the first Native American to assume that role. Her nine books of poetry and seven record albums draw on her roots and culture as an indigenous “poet warrior.”
She’ll speak about indigenous poetry and native literature and how she brings that culture ti her work. The evening is described as a “fireside chat-style discussion during which the community is encouraged to ask her questions about her work, experiences, and perspectives.”
