Fri 12/23 @ 9PM

Festivus is a completely made-up secular/parody Christmas celebration that made its debut on the old Seinfeld sitcom nearly 20 years ago. Since then, it’s just been an excuse for a party — or a concert.

Punk Rock Festivus at the Beachland Tavern is an excuse for three bands to make some loud noise. That includes teen brother duo Archie & the Bunkers, who have had quite a year. Brothers Emmett (drums/vocals) and Cullen (organ/vocals) O’Connor have become something of an underground sensation with their sophisticated, historically informed blend of garage, punk, funk and blues. They’ve released a single, split single and an EP to follow up to their debut album late last year on London-based dirty Water Records. They spent a month in the late spring touring Europe and hit cities all over the midwest in the fall.

Also on the bill are heavy Columbus band Bridesmaid and Cleveland’s Fuck You Pay Me, fronted by punk rock legend Tony Erba, known for his uninhibited performances. Apparently, there will be a Festivus Pole and the Airing of Grievances. Seinfeld fans will know what that means. The rest of you, go and find out, and catch one of Cleveland’s hottest young bands as well.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. But we wouldn’t count on any being available at the door.
