Fri 1/6 @ 4PM
Artists Archives of the Western Reserve not only hosts exhibits at its facility of the edge of University Circle, it also organizes auxiliary shows at other locations.
Currently, one such show is located at the retirement community, Kendal at Oberlin. Stories in Light features the photography of archived artist Stuart Pearl, whose subject is the city of Cleveland. he took his inspiration from his father, painter Moses Pearl, who focused on the industrial landscape and the modest neighborhoods surrounding it. In his five decades as a photographer, the younger Pearl has used the same basic material as a source for his sprawling cityscapes, often viewed in dramatic natural light, and abstract images.
Pearl will be hosting an artist talk at Kendal in Oberlin’s Heiser Auditorium, where he’ll talk about his career and the images in the show aand show some additional pieces. His 45-minute talk will be followed by a Q&A. The event is free and open to all. No registration is required, but masks inside the building are.
