SPACES Artist Hosts Q&A About Her Pandemic/Election-Based Video

Mon 2/22 @ 6PM-7:30PM

One of the shows currently on view through SPACES is Alicia Grullón’s  virtual exhibit Please Don’t Let It Be Too Close. In this work, the New York-based artist-in-residence at SPACES echoes a plea many of us were making prior to last year’s presidential election — and on January 6, we’ve seen how urgent that plea was.

The artist interviewed people from around the Midwest and the Cleveland area about the presidential election and their time in quarantine as the basis for her installation/video looking at the impact of the election on people’s lives. It was all done virtually and shot in her home, combining film, music and theater-based techniques. It includes a group of self-portraits called March to June: At Home With Essential Workers, which comprised an online exhibition at the Bronx Museum of Arts last year.

See the show video and participate in a Q&A with Grullón to learn more about how she put it together. Register for the free event here. The show will be available for viewing through Friday March 19.
