Seattle One-Man Indie Act Say Hi Plays at Visible Voice Books

Tue 6/6 @ 8PM

The “band” Say Hi, formerly Say Hi to Your Mom, was formed by Southern California native Eric Elbogen after he moved to Brooklyn in 2002. He’s since settled in Seattle and continued to crank out quirky, witty, offbeat records that are basically one-man affairs: he IS the band. He writes all the material, plays all the instruments and records at home. His new album, Elocution Prattle, his 14th, is an all-instrumental synthesizer project.

He’s now on a tour sponsored by the Seattle-based Undertow Collective, which books its artists into intimate, alternative venues ranging from people’s home to yoga studios to bike shops to bookstores. They’ve worked with such noted indie acts as David Bazan, Pedro the Lion, John Vanderslice, Mark Eitzel and Damian Jurado.

And it’s a bookstore where they landed a suitable space for Elbogen and Say Hi in Cleveland. He’ll perform at Visible Voice Books in Tremont. Shows in Brooklyn, Denver, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago and Philadelphia are already sold out, but you can still hear him in Cleveland. Go here to get tickets.
