Fri 10/29 @ 6-10PM
Join the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame for a Harvest Polka Party that’s sure to chase away any blues you might feel about the coming winter.
Veteran Cleveland polka star, accordionist Eddie Rodick, will be taking the stage of the Slovenian Society Home (20713 Recher Avenue) in Euclid with his orchestra for an evening of lively polkas and lovely waltzes from 6-10pm. You’ll undoubtedly hear some beloved classics of the Slovenian-based genre.
The evening will also feature a tribute to broadcaster Tony Petkovsek who passed away in 2019; he was instrumental in the founding of the Polka Hall of Fame and hosted his Thanksgiving Polka Weekend starting in 1963 (it returns this year after a pandemic hiatus). It’ll celebrate the 60th anniversary of his polka radio show, now led by WINT’s Denny Bucar, Joey Tomsick and Joe Valencic, plus Ray Zalokar of 247PolkaHeaven.com. And there’ll be sandwiches and Slovenian treats courtesy of the Slovenian Home.
Admission is free for Polka Hall of Fame members; you can join that evening to get free admission. Otherwise they’re $12 in advance or $15 at the door. It’s free for 18 and under.
