Lake Erie Folk Fest Offers Opportunities for Participating as Well as Listening

Sat 2/23 @ 1-6PM, 7:30PM

The Lake Erie Folk Fest is back at the Shore Cultural Center for the 4th year with an afternoon of performances, workshops and dances and an evening concert.

The afternoon session from 1-6pm is all abut participation and is highly interactive! There’ll be activities for kids and adults, musicians of all skill levels and musical tastes, and those who just want to listen. There are scheduled sessions on old-time banjo and fiddle, sacred harp, ukulele, mandolin, blues guitar, Irish whistle and flute, and songwriting, along with spaces for musicians to gather around and jam informally and a special lineup of activities for kids. There’s even a performance by the Euclid High School drumline.

At 7:30, in the auditorium, Americana duo Richie and Rosie will perform, along with traditional Irish ensemble Journeywork, classical Indian music and dance ensemble Shri Kalaa Mandir, progressive roots guitarist Jim Volk and the Chardon Polka Band, carrying this ethnic music native to Cleveland to the next generation.

The afternoon session is free; tickets to the evening concert are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, with kids 12 and under free. There are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area to head over to during the 6-7:30pm break.
