Cleveland Orchestra Kicks Off 51st Blossom Season with Mussorgsky, Beethoven and Fireworks

Sat 7/7 @ 8PM

The Cleveland Orchestra
kicks off its 51st season at its summer home, Blossom Music Center, this weekend with the kind of familiar and beloved music that’s a feature of summer concerts.

The signature piece on the program is Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, as orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. It’s joined on the program by Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, featuring orchestra members Mark Kosower on cello, Stephen Rose on violin and Joela Jones on piano. Emil von Reznicek’s Overture to Donna Diana opens the evening.

Former Blossom Music Festival director Jahja Ling conducts, replacing originally announced conductor, Cleveland Orchestra Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, who has an infection in his hand.

There are family-friendly pre-concert activities starting at 6pm and fireworks following the concert, if weather permits.
