Cleveland’s Dead Boys are back — sort of.

Last year, the legendary punk band’s guitarist Cheetah Chrome assembled a touring group to go out on the road to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of their debut album Young Loud and Snotty on Sire Records. It followed the release of Still Snotty: Young Loud and Snotty at 40 last fall, a re-recording of the earlier songs.

The new lineup also features original drummer Johnny Blitz, along with new members Ricky Rat on bass, Jason Kottwitz on guitar and, stepping in for the late Stiv Bators on vocals, Jake Hout.

The group hits Chrome’s and Blitz’s hometown this week with a show at the Beachland. There the opening is teenage punk/garage band Archie & the Bunkers who include the Dead Boys among their encyclopedic range of influences; a cover of “Sonic Reducer,” the lead-off song from Young Loud and Snotty is part of their repertoire.

Before the show, be sure to stop next door at the Space: ROCK Gallery to see photographer Dave Treat’s shots of Dead Boys taken in 1977. That’ll be open from 5-9pm.

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
