“Funk” is the Theme of This Month’s MIX at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Fri 4/5 @ 6-10PM

The Cleveland Museum of Art MIX events are a monthly treasure — expertly embodying the changing themes, these events transform the usually empty and open atrium into an immersive arts experience. On Fri 4/5, enjoy ¨Funk,¨ a celebration of the photography exhibition Gordon Parks: The New Tide, Early Work 1940–1950. Displaying the first 10 years of his career, this versatile and engaging collection shows Parks’ ability to impart vision and commentary on a wide range of subjects. From commercial and government commissions to fashion and journalism, Parks was able to help to establish the important role photography and media played in the civil rights movement.

From 6-10pm, join in the party! The evening includes beats by DJ Marcus Alan Ward, a photo booth brought to you by the Cleveland Print Room, gallery talks and cocktails. Enjoy a Spoken Word Showcase hosted by Vince Robinson and the Jazz Poets, including readings by Raja Freeman, Siaara Freeman, Damien McClendon, Ephraim Nehemiah, Eric Odum and Michelle R. Smith. Regular gallery access and restaurant hours are also available, making this event the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything CMA has to offer!

Tickets will be $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and free for CMA members. See schedule and purchase tickets here.
