Cleveland Opera Theater Opens Season With Uproarious “Barber of Seville” at the Maltz Center

Sat 10/6 @ 7:30PM

Sun 10/7 @ 3PM

Gioachino Rossini’s 1816 opera The Barber of Seville is the perfect “starter” opera. It’s lighthearted and fun with lots of laughs — no one dies with a sword protruding from their heart or goes mad; the storyline is easy to follow even though it’s in Italian; and a lot of the music will be familiar even to those who have never intentionally listened to opera (“Figaro, Figaro, Figaro …”)

Cleveland Opera Theater moves into its fall season with two performances of the perennially popular work, taking place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center in University Circle. It’s a fully staged production with scenery, costumes, lights and a live orchestra. And for those who are concerned about the Italian, there will be English supertitles. Tickets are $25-$100.
