Sweetness

Sweetness

Maybe it’s a matter of taste. For going on 10 years, we at Cool Cleveland have developed our tastebuds to appreciate the coolness that we find all around us each week. Then, using technology like social media and video, we share that sweetness with our friends and followers. We have lots more friends these days, and we’ve launched tools like our mobile apps for Android and iPhone, and if anything, our sense of taste has become even stronger. Check out our videos and features below on the beehive of activity in our region this week, a preview of the new iPhone 4S, a couple of perspectives on the Occupy Cleveland movement, and the sweet sounds of honeyhoney & Wally Bryson. I guess you could say we’ve got a sweet tooth for this town. –Thomas Mulready

VIDEO: Wally Bryson Talks
Rocker & friends play benefit concert

As the lead guitarist of the Raspberries, Wally Bryson played and sang on international hit records. Before the Raspberries, he was a member of a couple of Cleveland’s favorite bands, including The Choir, who scored a national hit with It’s Cold Outside.

After the Raspberries, he joined the rock group Fotomaker, with two former members of the Rascals. This coming Saturday he’s playing a benefit concert at the Beachland Ballroom that will be a retrospective of his career, along with several members of his former groups and other legendary Cleveland musicians. In addition, his son, Jesse, is bringing his band in from New York to play in the concert as well. It’s a fund-raiser for Roots of American Music (ROAM), a Cleveland Heights-based educational organization. Watch the video and learn more here.

The just-released iPhone 4S is getting a bad rap by the pundits, but it’s outselling all other mobile phones. According to Cool Cleveland, this is because it is actually a very cool smartphone.

What’s to like? A faster processor, a much better camera, and better phone reception. Plus the new Siri Personal Assistant with voice recognition is seriously cool, if a little overworked right now.

Check in with Cool Cleveland’s Thomas Mulready as he runs the Apple iPhone 4S through it’s paces and gives his opinion in this video, shot on the iPhone 4S, of course. And watch for a lot of sweet photos and video coming from this iPhone in the coming months, especially on Cool Cleveland’s own mobile apps for the Android and iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch.
