Playwrights Local Takes a New Script, an “Adult Fairy Tale,” Out for a Staged Reading

Wed 3/27 @ 7PM

Playwrights Local, founded about four years ago to develop and provide a stage for new scripts by area playwrights, has a program called Playlab. It’s where brand-new works are given staged readings to see how they sound out loud and where they need more work.

Its latest is The Demon on the Mountaintop, written by Robert M.K. Daniels. It’s described as a contemporary fairy tale for adults,” in which a village at the base of a mountain is continually threatened by a Demon who lives above them, unless a young woman is sent up to appease him. When one young woman refuses to go, conflict results.

The performance takes place at the Creative Space at Waterloo Arts. It’s free. Reservations are not required.
