Wearable Art Market for the Textile Art Alliance Showcases Creative Makers

Sun 10/14 @ 10AM-5:30PM

Anyone who loves fashion and art is going to want to visit the first-ever Wearable Art Market, held inside the boutique mall at Eton from 10am-5:30pm on Sun 10/14.

“People coming to the market should expect a fun, energy-filled atmosphere with fashion and art lovers reveling in a shopper’s mecca,” exudes Judi Pfancuff, chair of the Wearable Art Market for the Textile Art Alliance (TAA) of the Cleveland Museum of Art. “There will be strolling models and a drawing with 18 winners at 3pm. Forty-seven vendors will offer everything from fingerless mitts and funky headbands to dramatic wardrobe pieces in silks and ethnic fabrics. There will be hats, scarves, jackets, dresses, jewelry, coats, bags… something wonderful for everyone. About 30 of the vendors are from Northeast Ohio, with others from Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Indiana.”

The market will be an interesting and unusual art show unlike many others, offering chic and unique styles to wear or gift, everything from fun tops and accessories to elegant coats and ensembles. There will be nearly 50 exhibitors, including many who’ve participated in past TAA fashion shows, along with many newcomers. The event is a spin-off of the extremely popular Wearable Art Fashion Show that the Textile Art Alliance of the Cleveland Museum of Art presented annually from 2004 to 2016.

“The fashion show’s primary purpose was to benefit the CMA textile acquisition fund. The market, on the other hand, is not a fundraiser. Its primary purpose is to support textile artists by generating interest and excitement around wearable art,” explains Judi. “The market is for everyone who likes interesting clothes and accessories. There will be wonderful items available at a wide range of price points. It will be a great way to kick off your holiday shopping.”

There’s plenty of parking available in the parking lot, as well as the underground garage with easy accessibility to Eton. The market is free to attend.

A complete list of the market vendors can be found here.

  1. Thanks for the great article, Kendall! Love the photo you chose–a fabulous jumpsuit by Cleveland artist Andrea Howell for her Tidal Cool line. Photo is by Julie Stanley of JuleImages, LLC, the great Cleveland fashion photographer.
