Polish Food and Paczki Will Be Served at Fat Thursday Party at the Magalen in Slavic Village

Thu 2/28 @ 6-10PM

Come to Slavic Village to celebrate the Polish version of Mardi Gras — Fat Thursday or, in Polish, Tłusty Czwartek. As with Mardi Gras, it’s dedicated to enjoy the things one isn’t supposed to during Lent, which begins Wed 3/6. To Poles, that mean paczki, a fried pastry which traditionally used up the lard, sugar, eggs and fruit that were no-nos to consume during Lent.

At the Magalen, there will be not only a variety of paczki for purchase, but also Polish cuisine from Seven Roses, beverages, live music for dancing to work off what you’ve consumed, and raffles to benefit the upcoming Polish Constitution Day Parade to be held in Slavic Village Sun 4/28. Admission is free, but they’re hoping you’ll bring some canned goods for the good for St. John Paul II food pantry.
