It’s a big week for clean water, with Cleveland participating in the multi-state Great Lakes Adopt-a-Beach Cleanup Saturday and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District’s annual Clean Water Fest and Open House the same day (it goes on until 4 so you can do both).

On Thursday, the Chicago-based Alliance for the Great Lakes, which hosts the Adopt-a-Beach program, will be holding its second Cleveland fundraising event. Sip some drinks and munch on appetizers while learning more about the group’s work and how you can help, and meeting others as concerned about protecting our lakes as you are.

It takes place at Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Tasting Room in Ohio City; many people know that GLBC was one of the first businesses in Cleveland to go environmentally friendly in a major way, starting to put into effect sustainable practices back in the late ’80s.

Tickets are $50.
