The duo of Miranda Dawn and Chris Hawkes aka Dawn and Hawkes, met in Austin, Texas, where they live, in 2012. Shortly after that, they released their debut album, Golden Hearts, and began amassing buckets of praise for their Americana-infused acoustic singer-songwriter sound and intimate harmonizing. They began amassing a fan base through extensive national and international touring, performing with artists such as Old 97s, Allison Krauss and Patty Griffin, and appearances at South by Southwest and Austin City Limits.
They’ve just released their second album The Other Side, and are finally on a tour that brings them to this part of the country. They’ll be performing at Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn, a perfect setting for their thoughtful, organic music.
It’s $15 at the gate, which opens at 6pm. Students with ID are $5. Lorenzo’s wood-fired pizza will be back on site with pies for $9 but as usual, you can bring your own picnic basket and cooler. And since they’re sticking around for a songwriting workshop after they originally booked show Wednesday, they added another on Thursday.
