Cleveland Artist/Maker Susie Frazier Wins Regional Emmy for TV Pilot

Susie Frazier has been working in the now-thriving 78th Street Studios longer than virtually anyone else there, back when there was only a handful of artists there and Third Fridays, now attended by thousands each month, were no more than a dream. She’s moved from a small studio to an expansive showroom as her nature-based art, using natural and recycled materials, has become well-known and graced homes, health-care facilities and businesses, lending its healing, wellness and peace-bringing properties to a variety of settings.

Frazier has also been a mover and shaker, one of the organizers behind many activities at 78th Street Studios including the monthly Watch It Wednesdays started early this year. On top of that she produced and starred in a show called Movers & Makers With Susie Frazier, a 2017 TV pilot that first aired on WKYC-TV 3 in Cleveland. The show focuses Frazier’s environment concepts from idea to final result, as she works with other makers and craftspeople to fulfill her vision.

“There’s a real camaraderie between the master welders, woodworkers and artists that I work with,” says Frazier. “In a fun and exciting way, we underscore how pure imagination, collaboration and chaos play out in the world of professional makers.”

On Sat 6/23 at the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences gala in Indianapolis, Frazier and her co-producer Gordon Recht were awarded a regional Emmy for the show. The award gives them momentum as they explore their options for creating a full series based on the maker concept.
