Blues Guitarist Doug MacLeod Does Workshop and Concert at Heights Music Shop

Thu 6/21 @ 7PM

Fri 6/22 @ 7:30PM

If you are a music fan and definitely if you are a guitar fan, you should get in the loop with the locally owned Heights Music Shop in Cleveland Heights’ Cedar Lee neighborhood. The store hosts frequent jam sessions, workshops and concerts featuring both local and touring performers.

This week, they’re hosting blues guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Doug MacLeod for a two-fer: a workshop on Thu 6/21 and a concert on Fri 6/22.

Just this year McLeod won the Blues Foundation award for Acoustic Album of the Year for his latest release, Break the Chain. It’s only the latest in a stream of accolades the 72-year-old musician earned is his long, peripatetic career. (He’s lived everywhere from North Carolina to New York State to Los Angeles). He released his first album 34 years ago, and since then has added more than two dozen more to his catalog, including live albums that capture his relatable storytelling style. Tickets are $20 in advance only, and space is limited (it’s not a huge store!) so buy them now.

The workshop, limited to 12, features two hour-and-a-half parts with a refreshment break, covering such areas as slide technique, building a solo and simplifying the fingerboard. Tickets are $50. Refreshments both evenings will be provided by Heights Music Shops neighbor, Lopez Restaurant.
