moCa Cleveland Explores Civil Rights and Activism of MLK Day

Mon 1/21 @ 11AM

moCa Cleveland is another local institution that is open on a normally closed day with free activities relating to civil rights and activism.

From 11am-12:30pm, civil rights scholar Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries will host a teach-in, talking about the context in which Dr. King operated and the methods of protest used by African-American activists since the ’60s. That will be followed from 12:30-1:30pm by “Affirmative Political Sign-Making,” led by artist/activist Favianna Rodriguez. With pizza!

From 1:30-3:30pm, moCa will hold another of its series for For Freedoms Town Halls, with panelists talking about “Protest, Petition and Civil Disobedience,” under the umbrella of “Freedom of Expression.” The audience will have the opportunity to participate with questions and experience sharing.
