It’s paczki time again! You may not be one of the eager souls lining up outside Rudy’s Strudel & Bakery in Parma for its annual Paczki Day to be the first inside at 5am when the balloons drop to grab one of these sweet or savory pastries.
But there will be events going on all day, with polka DJ C. Randolph C. and live polka music, starting at the more reasonable hour of 11am. There’ll be dance instructors to teach you basic polka steps, trivia contests, raffles, brewers from Brick and Barrel, tea from Tea Lab, pierogi food trucks and paczki eating contests.
And of course there will be paczkis in dazzling profusion. The 70-year-old bakery has collaborated with Gordon Square ice cream parlor Sweet Moses to create its special new flavor The Sweet Moses Hot Chocolate paczki featuring chocolate custard and hand-whipped marshmallow. But there are more than two dozen flavors to choose from — order in advance if you want to be sure to get your favorite.
