Photographer Donald Black Jr. Focuses on Every-Day Moments in Shaker Community Gallery Show

Wed 7/11 @ 6-9PM

Shaker Heights photographer Donald Black Jr. has been taking a series of images of the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood which he calls “the gunshot side of Shaker,” one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. But in A Day No One Will Remember, he doesn’t focus on violence, poverty and decay, but rather black children living their daily lives, lives similar to those of kids everywhere. These may indeed be similar to quotidian moments from your childhood that you remember forever.

“These are the people that I want to live forever,” says Black. “These are the missing images in the worldwide database of photo history.”

A show of work from the series opens at the Shaker Community Gallery with a reception Wed 7/11 @ 6-9pm. It’s free and open to all.
