Vermilion Festival of the Fish Celebrates Being on the Waterfront

Fri 6/14 & Sat 6/15 @ noon-11PM

Sun 6/16 @ noon-6PM

What’s a riverfront/lakefront town going to celebrate, if not fishing, since fishing is big business and big recreation in the area? And that’s just what the annual Festival of the Fish, now in its 53rd year, does, along with just celebrating being on the water. Its theme this year is “Hawaiian Luau.”

The festival offers three days of live entertainment, food, a marketplace and kids’ games. But what makes it different from the run-of-the-mill festival is such distinctive water-related activities straight out if an old-fashioned seashore resort town: a lighted boat parade, an antique wooden boat parade, a sandcastle-building contest, a crazy craft race and firefighters water fights. There’s also a queen’s pageant, a pet parade, fireworks on Friday and the annual Father’s Day parade on Sunday @ 12:30pm.

Admission is free.
