DESCRIPTION:\n\nFri 3/21 @ 7:30PM\nOne of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s c
urrent shows is Arts of the Maghreb: North African Textiles and Jewelry. T
 o look at that region’s culture from a different angle\, it’s hosting
a concert by NYC-based Tunisian-American musician Emel Mathlouthi aka EMEL
who became the voice of the Arab Spring with her protest song “Kelmti H
orra (My Word Is Free)\,” which she performed at the 2016 Nobel Prize ce
remony. Her music combines elements of North African culture with electron
ic and pop music\, making it accessible to wider audiences.\n\nHer latest
album MRA was released last April\, and draws exclusively on female and qu
eer collaborators as a statement of sisterhood and a stand against the mal
e-dominated world\, culture and music industry. It’s packed with pop and
hip hop influences and sung in English\, French and Arabic\, making it tr
uly an international album.\n\nGet tickets to the concert here.\n[mappress
