 show\, Things That Ache Softly\, three painters explore ideas around imper
 manence and continual change\, each from the point of view of their own li
 ves and experiences.\nMaeve Billings is queer\, nonbinary artist who has d
 eveloped their own take on the classic momento mori painting. They share\,
  “To be a queer\, non-binary person today means to feel a threat to auto
 nomy over my own flesh. My paintings explore this anxiety. I want the pain
 tings to be beautiful\, and\, in the same breath\, unsettle the viewer wit
 h imagery ranging from reverent to gory. I am interested in that fragile d
 ynamic between attraction and repulsion.”\nMadison Mayle grew up in Appa
 lachia which influences her images of biological forms\, although they don
 ’t depict any particular place. “The work communicates a sense of quie
 tude and inherited intimacy\, where the landscape is not something observe
 d from afar\, but something that holds\, shapes\, and embodies the viewer\
 ,” she says.\nAnd Katy Richards’ recent oil and watercolor paintings a
 re a reflection ephemeral nature of life\, showing floral bouquets that ar
 e in various stage of decay. “Through their gradual decay\, they encoura
 ge us to value the moments we have\, finding beauty in the continuous proc
 ess of transformation\, loss\, and renewal\,” says Richards.\nThe show o
 pens with an artist preview on Wednesday April 15\, with the full opening 
 taking place during Third Friday\, April 17. It’s free and open to all.\
