SUMMARY:New WRHS Exhibit Looks at Cleveland's Role in Movie-Making
DESCRIPTION:\nThu 9/25 @ 5:30-9PM\nThere has been a great deal of effort la
 tely to promote northeast Ohio as a fertile location in which to film movi
 es\, and it has been relatively successful. More and more films have been 
 added to the handful Clevelanders have long loved to boast about and cling
  to as examples of the area’s filmic attraction: most notably\, 1978’s
  The Deerhunter\, starring Robert DeNiro\, with some scenes filmed at fami
 liar historic locations in Tremont\, and more annoyingly\, 1983’s A Chri
 stmas Story\, which featured some local exteriors including a house\, also
  in Tremont\, that is now a tourist attraction. (Most of it was filmed in 
 other locations\, including Canada.)\nRecently\, however\, major movies ha
 ve done more of their filming here\, including the new Superman film relea
 sed this summer. It’s a good time for the Western Reserve Historical Soc
 iety to mount a new exhibit called\, perhaps just a tad grandiosely\, Holl
 ywood on the Cuyahoga: Northeast Ohio and the Movies.\n“While people are
  becoming more aware that movies are made in Northeast Ohio\, there has ne
 ver been a comprehensive look at how this industry has\, over the years\, 
 blossomed into a major part of our cultural landscape and an economic engi
 ne for the region\, and all of Ohio\,” says WRHS President/CEO said Kell
 y Falcone-Hall.\nTh exhibit will focus on the pieces of movie history conn
 ected to this region\, including the actors\, writers and directors with r
 oots here\, and the work of the Cleveland Film Commission in promoting the
  area and attracting more production work here.\nThe show opens with a gal
 a event Friday September 25 (get tickets here) and will be on view through
