 ming\, activity at art walks such as the first Friday Walk All Over Waterl
 oo in the Waterloo Arts District is picking up.\nThere’ll be several new
  shows this month. At Article\, Marti Higgins will be opening a new show o
 f her abstract paintings called In the Abstract with prints and small orig
 inals available for purchase. The resident studio artists will also have w
 ork on display. The gallery will be open from 5:30-9PM\nAt Deep Dive Art P
 rojects\, Corrie Slawson’s Working System will feature new mixed-media w
 orks on paper by the artist\, focused primarily on the inside of the human
  body.  Slawson is Cleveland Heights-based a painter and master printer w
 ho incorporates screen printing and other techniques into her painted narr
 atives\; the show also features six drypoints integrating body parts “fa
 ntastical images of internal organs.” “Recent personal experiences wit
 h an aging\, injury\, and healing body caused me to take a longer a look 
 ‘inside’ than I typically have but also have caused me to research the
  history of how the government intervenes in our bodies\,” says Slawson.
  The show’s opening runs from 5-8pm\; there’s also a preview on Thursd
 ay April 30 from 5-7pm. The show will be on view through May 20.\nContinui
 ng at Waterloo Arts is work by local printmakers Meryl Engler (When I Beco
 me a Tree) and Zoe Brester-Pennings (Buck Soft).\nAnd from 6-8pm at the Tr
 eelawn\, Waterloo Makes Music will present Rustic Skies\, an indie rock ba
 nd fronted by cello\, and offbeat folkie duo The Baker’s Basement. It’
