SUMMARY:New Sculpture Center Show Explore Arcane Knowledge and Bodily Desir
 e
DESCRIPTION:\n\n[caption id="attachment_242908" align="alignnone" width="70

ulpture Center in University Circle opens its doors to two new shows this
week: Cloud of Unknowing by Gary Sczerbaniewicz and Ling-lin Ku’s Mornin
g After.\n\n\n\n\n“Sczerbaniewicz and Ku are doing something rare—each
in their own distinct language\, they make the invisible felt\,” says T
he Sculpture Center’s executive director Grace Chin in the show’s pres
s release. “One looks outward toward the mysteries we project onto the w
orld\; the other turns inward toward the hungers we carry in the body. Tog
ether they create an experience that is genuinely hard to shake.”\n\n\n\
n\nSczerbaniewicz’s work draws together influences from such disparate a
rcane sources as UFOs\, occult imagery\, secret societies and ritual space
s with interactive sculptural environments featured miniature dioramas. Hi
s title comes from the anonymous 14th-century Christian mystical text The
Cloud of Unknowing\, referring to hidden truths that may come to light by
looking beyond certainty and knowledge.\n\n[caption id="attachment_242939"

Ling-lin Ku’s presents Morning After features a series of large-scale sc
ulptures incorporate breakfast imagery including tableware and food\, and
sensual and bodily forms\, exaggerating and morphing them “to create a s
urreal landscape of desire\, indulgence and vulnerability\,” according t
o the show’s statement. His process includes digital fabrication technol
ogies including 3D scanning and CNC routing along with traditional sculptu
ral methods. The show is part of TSC’s early-career artist program\, Rev
 ealed.\n\n\n\n\nThe shows open with a reception on Friday April 10 @ 5:30-
8pm and will be on view through Saturday June 6.\n\n\n\n\nsculpturecenter\
