SUMMARY:Momix Dance Ensemble Brings Their Multimedia Version of Alice in Wo
 nderland to Town
DESCRIPTION:\nSat 10/11 @ 2PM &amp\; 7PM\nDANCECleveland’s season starts
with a performance that will have wide appeal to all ages and to people wh
 o aren’t pure dance fans.\nThey’re bringing in Momix\, a New England-b
ased ensemble founded in 1981 by director Moses Pendleton\, that has becom
e known for combining dance and movement with illusions. When they come to
Playhouse Square’s Mimi Ohio Theatre\, they’ll be bringing Alice\, th
eir take on the classic Alice in Wonderland story. In it they have a field
day with the story’s outrageous characters including the Caterpillar\,
the White Rabbit\, the lobsters and the Queen of Hearts\, using props\, ro
pes and lighting.\n“I don’t intend to retell the whole Alice story\,
” says Pendleton\, “but to use it as a taking off point for invention.
I’m curious to see what will emerge… I want to take this show into pl
aces we haven’t been before in terms of the fusion of dancing\, lighting
\, music\, costumes and projected imagery.”\nThere are two performances
 with a post-show Q&amp\;A after each performance — a golden opportunity
for those intrigued by how they great their effects. The show is suitable
for ages 8 and up. Get tickets here.\ndancecleveland/momix-alice\n[mappres
