 rd the stories about the steep decline of Monarch butterflies in the last 
 few decades\, caused by climate change\, profligate pesticide use and the 
 disappearance of their host plant — the only one that provides the suste
 nance they require — milkweed.\nIf this is something that weighs heavily
  on your mind\, there is something you can do (in addition to planting mil
 kweed!). You can join naturalists at the Geauga Park District's Orchard Hi
 lls Park Lodge for a hike to collect Monarch eggs from milkweed plants. Th
 ey will care for the eggs and display the adult butterflies at the Great G
 eauga County Fair to share their story with more people and raise awarenes
 s of their plight.\nThe hike is two miles on hilly terrain and while it’
 s mostly on trails\, there may be occasions to go off-trail to find eggs i
 n milkweed patches. Dress accordingly. Registration is required\, go HERE.
