  going on over our clear First Amendment rights. It’s not the first time
  in our history\, that free speech has been under fire\, but the issues sw
 irling around it — particularly the attempts to silence one side after t
 heir years of specious complaints about “cancel culture” — have rare
 ly been more contentious. And when you throw in massive\, consolidated med
 ia companies focused on their bottom line that are sensitive to government
  pressure\, you have a situation ripe for silencing some viewpoints\, some
 thing that has already happened. Trying to silence people for criticizing 
 rabblerouser Charlie Kirk’s hateful\, even violent\, remarks just becaus
 e he was killed is not only coming from the far right\, but also people wh
 o are just timid and scared.\nA panel of First Amendment experts will talk
  about the issues in the spotlight to at “The Happy Dog Tales on the Sta
 te of Free Speech\,” one of the periodic discussions taking place at the
  Happy Dog in Gordon Square\, co-sponsored by the City Club. They’ll che
 w over questions\, such as “Is free speech under attack? Or is the publi
 c's definition shifting? And what can we take stock of from current events
 \, as well as long-term trends in this nation and our ability to exercise 
 our First Amendment rights?”\nPanelists include Andy Geronimo at Case We
 stern Reserve University's First Amendment Clinic\, and Peter Koritansky w
 ith the Cleveland State University Center for Civics\, Culture\, and Socie
 ty. Signal Cleveland reporter Nick Castele will moderate. It’s free and
