30PM\nWhile French composer Claude Debussy’s composition La Mer (The Sea
 )\, which debuted in 1905\, didn’t initially impress audiences\, it’s
become a favorite on orchestral programs since. In it\, he evokes the move
ment of the water\, the sound of the waves and the interplay of wind on th
e water. The Cleveland Orchestra’s program this week will be headlined b
y the popular piece.\n\nThat program also features Concerto for Organ\, St
rings and Timpani by early 20th-century French composer Francis Poulenc\,
37 years Debussy’s junior and deeply influenced by him. American organis
t Paul Jacobs\, who chairs the organ department at the Juilliard School in
New York ad won a Grammy in 2011 for his performance of Olivier Messiaen
’s Livre du Saint-Sacrement.\n\nAlso on the program are the suite from P
elléas et Mélisande by yet another French composer and contemporary of D
 ebussy’s\, Gabriel Fauré\, and early 20th-century Italian composer/pian
ist Alfredo Casella’s Italia.\n\nDaniele Rustioni will conduct the progr
am. Go here for tickets. Pianist/composer Eric Charnofsky will present the
pre-concert prevent in Reinberger Chamber Hall at 6:30 prior to each perf
 ormance.\n\n[mappress mapid="5027"]
