  inflation\, skyrocketing property taxes have become a thorny issue with O
 hioans. They’ve even provoked a ballot issue campaign\, currently gather
 ing signatures\, to abolish property taxes altogether. That would make Ohi
 o the first state in the country to do so and there’s a reason: these ta
 xes fun almost all our essential services\, from schools and libraries\, t
 o firefighters and police\, to park and social services and infrastructure
  repair. While the frustration is understandable\, with Ohio Republicans a
 lready steadily cutting income taxes on the wealthy\, with an eye to endin
 g state income taxes completely\, the only way to fund anything would be e
 conomy-crushing sales taxes.\nZach Schiller\, research director for progre
 ssive think tank Ohio Policy Matters\, will be the guest at the next Sunda
 y forum at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland in Shaker
