SUMMARY:Ensemble Theatre Stages Long\, Intense Eugene O'Neill Play
DESCRIPTION:\nFri 2/6-Sun 2/22\nAre you ready to sit in the theater for nea
rly four hours to be hammered by one of Eugene O’Neill’s most intense
plays (and most of his plays are intense) revolving around the Tyrone fami
 ly’s “deepest wounds\, addiction\, resentment\, longing\, and a love t
hat refuses to disappear.” That’s A Long Day’s Journey Into Night\,
which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1957.\n\nSound like fun? Hey\, I
did it at Northwestern University many years ago — in an evening that a
lso featured Samuel Beckett’s ponderously repetitive Waiting for Godot.
AND I took the El up to Evanson for this evening immediately after having
all my wisdom teeth removed under anesthesia. What a memorable night! So y
ou can survive it!\n\nBut if you’re in the right mindset\, the play can
leave you with countless things to ponder about the roots of family dysfun
ction. When Ensemble Theatre performs the play at its home at Marinello Li
ttle Theatre on the John Carroll University campus\, the production will b
e helmed by Ian Wolfgang Hinz and Rebecca Moseley and performed by five se
asoned veterans of local stage.\n\nIt runs from Friday February 6 through
Sunday February 22 on Fridays and Saturdays @ 7pm and Sundays @ 2pm. Get t
 ickets here.\n\nensembletheatrecle.org/longdaysjourney\n\n[mappress mapid=
