 tival Brite Winter (last weekend)\, as well as the Slovenian chase-away-th
 e-winter festival Kurentovanje.  Now Akron is getting in on the game\, pu
 tting its own spin on it. This Saturday\, March 1\, it’s debuting its Fr
 asnacht Karneval of Lights in the HUG Place\, 133 Merriman Road.\nThe part
 y will include a variety of entertainments including live music by such di
 verse ensembles as the St. Ed’s Trash Talkers ( a group of students play
 ing percussion on refashioned trash cans)\, Polkamaniacs\, Couple of Wande
 rers\, Massive Hotdog Recall\, Bryan Elijah Smith\, A Band Named Ashes wit
 h King Locust and others\; fire performers from Divine Harmony Entertainme
 nt\, an open mic and jam session with the Highland Square\; and the Brning
  of the Old Man Winter Effigy.\nThere’ll also be food trucks with hot fo
 od and warm beverages. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and masks
