SUMMARY:CVNP Screens Film Sharing the Beauty and Impact of National Parks
DESCRIPTION:\nWed 7/30 @ 6:30PM\nOne of this vast country’s greatest rich
es is its natural land\, set aside and preserved in our national parks\, f
rom Acadia on coastal Maine to Denali in Alaska—and Cuyahoga Valley Nati
onal Park in our own backyard. Hills\, mountains\, forests\, deserts\, lak
es\, swamps\, canyons—they offer people the opportunity to explore a wid
e range of unspoiled terrains and climates.\nYet the spoilers are coming f
or them. In the past six months\, we’ve seen an administration cutting f
unding and staff so services and maintenance fall by the wayside. And they
’re talking about selling them off at bargain rates to private interests
\, in some cases to destroy them for fossil fuel extraction. It’s never
been more important to advocate for keeping what’s ours.\nThe film\, Out
There: A National Parks Story\, stands as an advocate for protecting the
national parks. In it\, the filmmaker and a friend travel 10\,000 miles\,
visiting multiple parks to mark the centennial of the National Park Servic
 e. As they travel\, they talk to rangers\, conservationists and visitors t
o the parks to learn the impact these diverse landscapes have on the peopl
e who engage with them.\nThere’s no more appropriate place to screen the
film than at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge\, where t
he film’s director Brendan Hall will be present for a post-screening dis
cussion with Lowell Perry Jr of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.\nDo
ors open at 6:30pm with a cash bar. The film screens at 7pm. The discussio
 n follows at 8:30. Get tickets here.\n[mappress mapid="887"]
