 \, hear from experts and learn what you can do next to assure that our wat
 er sources are unpolluted. Jessica Jock from the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe
 /St. Lawrence AOC will share how toxic waste contamination in animals is 
 threatening survival of indigenous culture. Author Barry Wittenstein\, aut
 hor of The Day the River Caught Fire: How the Cuyahoga River Exploded and 
 Ignited the Earth Day Movement\,and its illustrator Jessie Hartland\, will
  be featured in a panel talking about the unexpectedly positive fallout of
  the famous 1969 Cuyahoga River fire\, and will do a book signing. Represe
 ntatives from the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership\, Cuyahoga Soil &amp\;
  Water Conservation District and Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District w
 ill talk about water protection on the east side\, and a resident archeolo
 gist from Summit Metro Parks will share the history of its Gorge Metro Par
 k.\n\nAnd the event will celebration the awarding of the 2025 Champion of 
 the River to Cleveland State University associate professor of biological\
 , geological and environmental science Dr. Julie Wolin\, whose research lo
 oks at the effects of human activity on freshwater and wetland ecosystems.
