 nadian! Played on ice\, it incorporated elements of shuffleboard\, as play
 ers slide stones across ice to a target at the other end of the rink. Orig
 inating in Scotland during the Renaissance\, Scottish immigrants brought i
 t to Canada where the locals apparently found it more appealing than that 
 Scottish culinary specialty\, haggis. The winter Olympics has men’s\, wo
 men’s and mixed doubles curling competitions\, and since becoming an off
 icial medal sport in 1998\, it’s been dominated by … duh … Canada.\n
 And believe it or not\, there’s curling in Canada\, taking place at the 
 Mayfield Curling Club. (The Cleveland Skating Cleveland also offers curlin
 g for members only.)\nCurious? The Mayfield Curling Club will be hosting a
  demonstration and the chance to try it out at the Public Square ice skati
 ng rink on two successive Wednesdays. No equipment is necessary\; just dre
 ss warm. (It’s not played on skates.) Even if you were just planning to 
 watch it at the Olympics\, this is a great opportunity to learn enough to 
 watch it with informed eyes. It’s free\, but there will be vendors on si
