 r his multi-disciplinary projects such as his musical/visual arts ensemble
  Uzizi\, wrote a radio play/ musical with local actor/vocalist/dancer Trev
 a Offutt called John Brown: The Dulcimer Diaries\, which they recently per
 formed along with a show of Matis’ visual artwork. It tells the story of
  the legendary 19th-century abolitionist and the era he lived in\, with it
 s polarization between abolitionists and those who believed slave-owning w
 as valid\, reflecting the polarization in our country today. The piece exp
 lores the life and times of Brown and those who influenced and supported h
 im\, both black and white.\nMatis and Offutt will be hosting a discussion 
 of the work\, taking place at the Midtown Collaboration Center on Friday J
