SUMMARY:Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project Presents Experiment Duo Water Is t
 he Sun
DESCRIPTION:\nFri 6/5 @ 8PM\nWater Is the Sun is the duo of Mkl Anderson an
d Adam Parks\, who use old tape machines\, keyboards\, field and found rec
ordings\, and “materials and instruments with capabilities and limitatio
ns which keep Water Is The Sun's offering grounded in the physicality of p
laying music that is rooted in a celebratory world of sound.”\nTheir rec
ording Ritual Fever\, released in March\, is described as “a dual refere
nce to an ecstatic state connected with nature\, and an anxious lack in th
 e context of modern-day alienation.” It’s the duo’s first co-written
/co-produced recording which they perform in its entirely in performance.
Describing the music\, they call it “an alchemical amalgam of their pri
mary projects\,  resulting in cinematic/landscape textures that give slow
birth to psyche-pastorals and intoned ritual songs\; a music as informed
by the devotional chants of West Coast cults and Appalachian hymns as it i
s by the dark new age and ambient resonance of the experimental scene that
has embraced and supported both musicians for many years.”\nThey’ll h
eadline the next concert presented by Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project\, w
hich is dedicated to sponsoring concerts by artists who use sound in creat
ive\, boundary-pushing ways.\nCleveland duo Liberation Technology (RA Wash
ington and Messiah In Glytch) opens with their blend of rap\, noise and el
ectronic music whuch they call “a hybrid nod to free improvisation and e
cstatic Jazz traditions.”\nThe concert takes place at the former Convivi
um 33 in AsiaTown. It’s a $15 suggested donation at the door\, but no on
e will be turned away for lack of money. Learn more here.\ncusp-presents-w
