 iece Das Lied von der Erde (“Song of the Earth”) is sort of a symphon
 y but not exactly. Written in the first decade of the 20th century\, its s
 ix movement require a large orchestra and two voices singing in alternatin
 g movements. With the death of his daughter to communicable disease and lo
 ss of his own position at the Vienna Court Opera in part due to antisemiti
 sm\, he was focused on the transience of life when he wrote it.\nWhen the 
 Cleveland Orchestra performs Das Lied von der Erde under the baton of musi
 c director Franz Welser-Möst\, it will be joined by two rising opera star
 s\, tenor Limmie Pullman (pictured) and baritone Iurii Samoilov.\nIn addit
 ion\, the orchestra will play Swiss-French composer Arthur Honneger’s Sy
 mphony No. 3 (“Symphonie liturgique”) from 1946 written in the wake of
  World War II when some of his close friends died in or on their way to Na
 zi concentration camps. So the aura of antisemitism will haunt Severance H
