 /12 @ 5-8PM\nFor 65 years\, the Cleveland Arts Prize has annually cited ar
 tists in different creative disciplines\, and since the late 80s\, arts pa
 trons and supporters\, who have contributed to making Cleveland known as a
  hub of creativity. Over the years\, it’s expanded its work and its prof
 ile in the community\, and now it’s added another event to make wider pu
 blic more aware of what it does and who it honors.\n\n\n\nThe CAP Show\, t
 aking place at the gallery of the Bostwick Design Art Initiative\, focuses
  on one of the categories it honors: visual arts. The show\, curated by CA
 P trustees Michael Weil (owner of the photography-focused Foothill Gallery
  and H. Scott Westover (curator of the Progressive Insurance collection) s
 howcases the work of 23 past winners for visual arts in a variety of mediu
 ms. They go as far back as 1969 and include two of this year’s winners.\
 n\n\n\nThe artists showcased include legendary industrial designer Viktor 
 Schreckengost (1973) who died in 2008 at the age of 101\; the Cleveland Mu
 seum of Art  did a major retrospective of his work in 2000\; Julian Stanc
 zak (1969)\, one of the key figures in the 1960s Op Art movement\; sculpto
 r David E. Davis (1980) who founded the Sculpture Center and Artists Archi
 ves of the Western Reserve\; and photographer Masumi Hayashi (1994) who cr
 eated wide-angle collages that offered multi-angled takes on landscapes wi
 th significant backstories. Work by two of this year’s honorees\, painte
 r/sculptor Mark Howard and architectural photographer Jennie Jones\, who b
 oth documented different aspects of Cleveland’s history and culture\, wi
 ll also be on view.\n\n\n\nThe show opens with a free public reception on 
 Friday December 12 @ 5-pm. It will be on view through January 31\, 2026. G
