 presenting relative standard community theater fare — Ken Ludwig comedie
 s\, musicals\, jukebox plays. But its next offering\, while still containi
 ng comic elements\, has a serious underpinning\, as its name suggests.\nIn
  John Herman Shaner’s Long After Crystal Night involves a Jewish family
  in Beverly Hills in 1984\, confronted by the issue of whether to protest 
 an American Nazi Party national convention. This leads to conversations ab
 out the family’s own history\, their assimilation into U.S. culture and 
 society\, their own beliefs and what they are or would be willing to sacri
 fice. The play’s title references the 1938 Kristallnacht\, when the Nazi
 s swept into Jewish neighborhoods in Germany\, destroyed homes\, businesse
 s\, synagogues and Jewish cemeteries and arrested thousands of people\, on
 e of the first major actions toward the Holocaust.\nIt runs June 5-21 on C
 VLT’s main stage with performances Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30pm and Su
