SUMMARY:Akron Symphony's Next Concert Is a "Program of Hope"
DESCRIPTION:\nSat 4/11 @ 7:30PM\nThe Akron Symphony says that their next co
ncert is a “program of hope\,” and from what people I know are telling
me\, that’s something they really need right now.\nThe concert opens wi
th a piece called “Wild Geese\,” inspired by a poem of the same name p
ublished by Mary Oliver in 1986 about accepting yourself with all your fla
ws and embracing everything life has to offer. The piece\, for orchestra a
nd electronics\, was written by 46-year-old British composer Anna Clyne an
d debuted in 2023. That will be followed by a piece that makes an appearan
ce in every concert program of uplifting Americana\, Aaron Copland’s q94
4 ballet music for Appalachian Spring.\nThe concert closes with Finnish co
mposer Jan Sibelius’ uplifting Symphony No. 2\, first performed in 1902
in Helsinki. It takes place\, as usual\, at the University of Akron’s E.
 J. Thomas Hall. Get tickets here. \n\nakronsymphony/appalachianspring/\n\n
