“Seed: The Untold Story” Looks at Protecting Crop Diversity at Forest City Brewery

Wed 10/17 @ 7PM

Seeds are the essence of agriculture, the wellspring from which all flows. Yet modern industrial-style farming, with huge multinational biotech companies controlling and patenting seed stock has resulted in decreasing diversity and 94% of seed varieties disappearing in the last century.

The documentary SEED: The Untold Story, screening at Forest City Brewery in an evening presented by the Cleveland Seed Bank, tells the story of a band of farmers, scientists, seed keepers and lawyers who are fighting to protect and preserve some of that disappearing seed stock. There’ll be a short discussion following the film. Well, they say short, but the discussion is likely to get passionate and Forest City’s taps are serving until midnight on Wednesdays.

It’s a $5 suggested donation to further the work the Cleveland Seed Bank does in saving and sharing seed.
