Cleveland Print Room Announces Stephen Bivens Memorial Residency

When Cleveland photographer Stephen Bivens died last June 1, the art and photography community lost not just a great talent but a beloved presence, someone who brought warmth and an expansive friendliness gallery openings and to the Collinwood community he was part of. In his work, he captured the community and its people, and he shared his gifts with young people through his teaching at the Cleveland Print Room.

To honor his memory, the Cleveland Print Room has established the Stephen Bivens Residency, which will offer photographers artistic support. The eight-week residency, which will run from June 21-August 15, is open to photographers 21 and over working in traditional or alternative photographic media.

The chosen artists will be encouraged to pursue their own work while interacting with the Cleveland Print  Room community of photographers that such things as artist talks, workshops, portfolio feedback sessions, and mentorship. After the residency the two artists chosen will have a two-person show at CPR’s gallery within six months.
