Cozad-Bates House’s Freedom Festival Celebrates Hope and History

Sun 9/23 @ 3-5PM

The Cozad-Bates House is a pre-Civil War home in University Circle, built in 1853, that was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Today it’s being restored as a tribute to the abolitionist movement and a monument to freedom and hope.

Today it’s celebrating that history with a Freedom Festival in its front yard that will feature storytelling and music abut the Underground Railroad. Performers include the Hue People, Sheela Das and more. The event is free and family-friendly.
