The Numbers Band Plays Akron Art Museum’s Downtown@Dusk

Thu 7/5 @ 6:30-8:30PM

There’s no bad time or place to check out one of northeast Ohio’s longest-running and most distinctive bands, the Numbers Band out of Kent. But an especially good time is their annual gig at the Akron Art Museum’s Downtown@Dusk series coming up this week.

Fronted by hypnotically intense vocalist/guitarist Robert Kidney since making its debut in the summer of 1970, the band has been through many member changes, although Kidney’s multi-instrumentalist brother Jack and sax player Terry Hynde have been mainstays through the decades. Weaving some blues and a little jazz into their hard rock sound, the band always sounds as if it’s about to go off on a tangent, while keeping it all together.

The Downtown@Dusk concerts take place in the museum’s Bud and Susie Rogers Garden. Food and beverages will be available in the museum café.
