Sara Holbrook is an educator, performance poet, and prolific author who has written many books for both children and adults. She now calls herself a “full-time poet.” His partner Michael Salinger is well known in the area’s poetry scene. He too is an educator and performance poet, active in the National Poetry Slam, although his published work has been primarily for adults.
Artist/musician Scott Pickering’s colorful, cartoon-like work which crackled with energy is familiar to anyone who has traveled around Cleveland with open eyes: whether it’s in galleries such as Doubting Thomas or the Derek Hess Gallery, or on the outside of disused buildings in Slavic Village where he lives.
The trio has collaborated on a book of poetry and images called Dreaming Big and Small, aimed at young people from middle school on up. They’ll celebrate the release with an evening featuring “great performances and random acts of art,” according to Loganberry Books where it takes place.
